Is Bosch 10.8v stuff any good?

Today I managed to drop my nearly new Bosch 14.4v-LI driver down a cavity and after much messing around trying to rescue it have decided it has gone for good.

Looking for a suitable alternative I used to have some of their 10.8v stuff but never used it too much so sold it last year. I have found this kit online which looks great:

Anyone used the tools? What do you think of them?

this will b no help to u but i use the bosch 36v sds its the best drill i have every used. i only use bosch and makita may b hilti. but as far as it goes all bosch is good but watch out for the diy kit

Hi James, I have the 36v sds and also the 36v combi and love them,

I like the idea of this kit as the drill/driver will replace my lost 14.v, the angle drill looks useful and the cordless multicutter can save me having to keep getting the transformer and multimaster out of the van.

Just worried if 10.8v is enough power?

I've got the impact driver, and the screwdriver, couple of lads I know have the torch. The drivers are really good. The impacter is only for use with machine screws and nuts+bolts though, you cant use it for wood screws at all (You'll be there forever).

The screwdriver is good for 1 1/2", or 2" screws, lasts a long time too. I've got the older model, without the 2 speed gearbox, think I would rather have mine as its smaller and lighter, but the 2 speeds will be handy. The torch is really good.

A mate has the angle drill and likes it. Dont know about the cutter/saw thingy, but a couple of people on here were moaning about how long the batteries last.

lol well i use a makita inpact driver for screwing lol

i would use a 14v if i was to by another to screw

actualy just get a makita 18v drill that will do it all lol

The amp hr rating is the thing to look for the higher the figure the longer the run time. I have had a few Panasonics really really light and they have the best amp hr ratings out there.

Sorry mate, but these kits will defo NOT replace your 14volt drill. Like I said, I have the older model, which doesnt have the 2 speeds, or the chuck, but a friend of mine has the Makita equivalant. You can drill small holes (maybe upto a 6mm), but its defo more of a driver than a drill.

just get the 18 v 2speed or 3 speed!!!!!! enuf power for drilling and screwing and u can always lessen the torque

Dewalts smell like scalelectric. My mate loves them I can always tell which room he's been working in. Think I might buy one as a sacrificial tool to leave in the van at night

I wouldn't bother personally......you'll only be gutted a week down the line when the batterys are only lasting 5 mins.

Driver batteries last for ages, using mine for d/boards and small screws, it often lasts all week. Dont know about the cutter though.

I have the same kit but without the cutter thingy, just the driver, impact driver, torch and angle drill.

I've never used the angle drill but it was only about £15 more for the kit with it in. The other 3 get used almost daily. If they got robbed tomorrow I'd replace them with the same. The driver and impact are extremely good and the batteries do last for ages. I use the impact for driving 4" screws into joists with no pilot holes - try that with any normal driver! The thing's got so much torque I've actually had it snap the head off screws on one or two occasions when I'm asking a bit too much of it. The LED lights build into them are also very bright and useful when you're in tight spaces. The beauty of the impact driver is you can use it for easy screws that are in a position where you can't get your weight behind the drill (where a normal driver would spin and jump off the screw head).

I also use the impact driver for marking holes in brick walls when screwing batons on for benching etc. It will drive screws straight through the wood and straight into the brick. Using a laser level you can get the whole 3 metre length on the wall then pull off again with all your holes marked and half drilled rady for wall plugs.

I can't use the batteries quicker than they charge - the charger takes about 5/20 minutes from flat and most of the kits come with at least 2 batteries. Don't let the batteries fool you, they look tiny but they've got plenty of power. Build quality is also A1 as with all Bosh Pro stuff

does anyone know what the cutter is like, gop 10.8v multicutter i think its called, keep thinking of getting one for cutting out drylining boxes in plasterboard. getting fed up with the padsaw in the block of flats im working in with about a hundred boxes in each flat. was wondering if it would speed things up at all when cutting through the triple boarded party walls. would get a fein one but need it to be cordless.

Sorry to hear about your 14.4 have you tried string with a magnet and sticky pad on the end ? ive used this method to rescue tools in the past and 9 times out of 10 it works ! just a thought mate as i hate loosing tools.

I can't even drive a 1 1/2" screw into wood or a Rawlplug with mine!
Its great for machine screws and nuts and bolts, but it takes ages to drive a woodscrew in, it just keeps hammering.
Anyone else got one, I'm wondering if mine is Fubar'd
