I've recently bought a Dispatch van and the airbag lights permanently on. The guy I bought it from said he removed the relay to fit to another van although he didn't mention it when I bought it. As he is based miles away, I want to replace it myself but don,t really know where it is . Some of you lads may have the same van so any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Even when its replaced the light will usually stay on as it sees the missing relay as a fault and disables the system.

All the relays are usually plugged into the main fuse box

Is the main fusebox behind the glove box and when its replaced, how do I get the light to go off. Thanks mate.

Only time it happened to me, after turning the ignition on without the airbag connected, took it to the garage I use all the time. Think I paid 25 quid for the privilege. Mine a Berlingo though and it is in the fuse box in the engine bay

Yep that will probably have to be coded in. Have a word with your local garage, but try ringing your local Citroen guys up first they may be able to do it on warranty or even may do it for you if you explained you bought it off someone who didn't tell you what he's done.

I hate modern cars, you can't do a thing with them.

so, rocker, you'd be happy to buy my ford anglia van then???

Ha ha, p'raps not! I've avoided anything post-2001 for work so far, though. Mind you, with the road extortion rates as they are, I may be forced to modernise soon.

You'd be lucky to get a Citroen main dealer garge to do anything under warranty if the van or car is over 12 month old. Come to think of it, that could be applied to most main dealers

The missus got a free oil change this year on our 07 Yaris from the Toyota garage (oil change indicator stuck 'on' after 5000) and we didn't even have it from new. Mind you, she is hot......

You need an ELM 327 cable like this
I had similar problem on a Punto - once airbag light is on it will not go off unless cleared from the fault memory of the ECU. Rather than pay a garage £25+ to fix it, save yourself a few quid and be able to help your mates out too. Very useful bit of kit.

edit - sorry just read the ebay listing properly - this particular one is not for vans, and will not turn off the airbag light. But this is the way to go - check out other ebay listings for ELM327 or OBD2 - someone else probably has the solution you are after. They usually come with a CD full of diagnostic software for various models.

My mate as a 1976 Bedford Chevanne. We went and bought it the day off we got for the queens silver jubilee and it cost him ............ 275 pounds.

He used if for years and then he just parked it up and decided it would be a back up when he got his brand new Escort Van. It lingered around for years pottering about. Then in the early 90's he decided enough was enough and scrap it. Little did he know that his son had arranged to get it done up and so instead of a scrappie it went to a garage where the son and his mate restored it.

Now my mate as retired he goes around these vintage car shows in it, and amazingly enough steals the show. He still as his company name on it, and the new office number and even gets leads from it, so that van doesn't owe him anything.

before you pay anyone. get under the drivers seat, pull the connectors out and push them in again, if the connection is no good, the airbag light comes on, that happened with my berlingo, fiddling around under the drivers seat sorted it
