Thanks @SJD!
@Stubob interesting approach. Though the LEDs are stuck to the upper surface, but I can try to explore if there is space for 2 new holes on the light itself.
@FatAlan haha! Your genius approach might not work for me given that you are assuming that the ceiling is composed of 2...
@Spoon sorry about not being clear earlier but that's how most of the buildings in the 2 countries I have lived are. Neither am I a professional (in fact a noob!) and am doing this just for our house. What are ceilings in UK mostly made of? Curious!
Also I thought the initial figure I created...
@Megawatt yes it feels like concrete or some hard building material. I cannot say for sure, but it's not wooden and hard to drill (at least with my multipurpose drill).
I did some more looking around and this is close to what I imagined:

But I need a flat version of this, and something which I can easily order within EU (preferably buy quickly from a store in Sweden), but looks like there isn't something obvious/standard...
Sorry for the confusion! That light bulb and the fitting is a temporary one. This is what the back of the light I want to put looks like:
So effectively I need 2 suspended screws that distance apart. I am going to get rid of the existing fitting and bulb.
As suggested by the other members, I...
@Spoon Probably something similar might work but this one looks a lot thicker and would interfere with the light fitting. A more flatter horizontal metal strip which allowed 2 screws on both ends should work - one I'll screw into the current hole, and the other side will hold a suspended screw...
@Megawatt it's screw that fits in the existing light fitting, similar to this one:
I'll get rid of this fitting and need a screw coming out slightly to the right for a light that clicks in to the screws (on slight rotation). I wanted to avoid drilling a new hole if possible.
Thank you...
Hello everyone!
Is there a way to move a drilled hole in ceiling slightly to the right without drilling another hole. I need to suspend a light ceiling lamp and want to avoid drilling another hole if possible. I am imagining something like this:
So effectively I am looking for a flat...
@pirate haha! I already mentioned I know nothing about it ;)
That fitting is pretty common here on the ceilings! It has a lamp plug and a hook to hang your lights from.
@GeorgeCooke the light I bought is a circular one and almost sticks to the surface. Now the ceiling fitting and the hook...
Thank you everyone for the help! :)
I pulled the wires a bit harder and they came off. Not sure if I'll be able to put them in easily in case I need to switch back, but I am good for now! Successfully installed my first light, thanks to you all!
Thanks! Just to double check, by flaps you mean the ones with characters "N" and "P". Would it still be hard to pull after pressing or should it come out easily. I tried pressing by hand and pulling the wires, but I still need to pull pretty hard. Feels like I am doing something wrong. Is there...
Thanks for the reply @ferg! That doesn't seem to work either. Here is a closer look at the internals + wire. Looks like pushing down might clutch the wire more hard. Not sure!
Hello all! Probably a noob question, but really appreciate your help with this. I am trying to fit a ceiling light and need to get out the existing electrical fitting to be able to screw in the base plate of the ceiling light I bought. Below are the pictures of the existing electrical fitting...
