100 A mains isolater to Garage unit.

yes I agree but to hit some assessment criteria I have to install 2 new circuits. It also has to be at a new board. I only have one space so thought I would use the spare in the CU to have a 2nd board in the garage. But yes if I was just doing it then I would use a FCU on a ring and down fuse...

100 A mains isolater to Garage unit.

no far. The garage is attached, the tails needed would be less than 1.2 meters.

100 A mains isolater to Garage unit.

I was told by an electrician that I could spilt the tails after the 100a isolation switch via a Henley block . From the Henley block I would use 25mm2 tails to a Garage Unit with a RCD of 40 a and 2 breakers or 32a and 6A. I suggested using an armoured from the current consumer unit ( via a...

100 A mains isolater to Garage unit.

Ok great - The garage unit has a 40A RCD this is the Method of isolation. So it’s fine then :-)

100 A mains isolater to Garage unit.

ive been told to spilt the tails after the main isolator. 1 feed of 25mm2 tails will feed the house and that is a 10 way board with an 100 amp main switch but then from the 2 feed off the Henley block where I will spilt it I can go to a garage board where an RCD is present as I won’t need an 100...

100 A mains isolater to Garage unit.

If a want to spilt the tails after a 100A isolation switch does the 2nd DB ( a new garage unit ) have to have a 100 a main switch or is a 40a RCD OK ? I’m assuming because there is a 100a isolation switch then I don’t need a main switch in the garage unit. The garage unit will only be powering a...

Davespark - Why do you think I am asking lots of peoples their opinions ? Why do you think I am taking the time to research ? No I don’t just believe something that why I’m reading and asking ! I understand it wouldn’t hold up in court that’s why I’m taking the time to research and seek advice...

This what I didn’t get I no it was listed as a reg but a spark told me it’s best to have cable in the garden RCD protected, obviously not. I have a copy of BS7671 but I’m am new to this.

95% of the cable runs through the floor not in the walls so the 5% that does run down the wall to the where it joins the swa via a separate main switch , I will make sure either it is 50mm back in the wall or it has mechanical protection. Apart from that I think it’s fine yeah ?

cable is in safe zone in the house and it doesn’t run through a bathroom nor does it supply sockets of 20a. Is that what your talking about ?

Yes - Apart from the fact it would be connected to the SWA which does run outside ( which when a cable is used in the garden it would be require an RCD) but then again the termination won’t be outside as it would terminate in a shed. otherwise I guess it would be better to run the cable from...

no it’s not surface run it runs from the board to the utility under the floor. Is that OK ?

Great thanks this is helpful and think it is the way I will do it. We have enough SWA to go from the utility to the shed but not the main board so would the follow be OK. 1. A 16mm2 T +E from a MCB at the main board( not RCD protected ) the 16mm2 T+ E will then go through the house to the...
