    Sequence lighting

Good questions. Ive not spoke to the client yet, this is from the builder who is cladding the driveway so it will defifintely be problematic. They do have money as this huge 5 bed chalet is just their holiday home!! However Im thinking a PIR at either end, one set of lights triggered by the one...

    Sequence lighting

Hello everyone. Has anyone installed sequence lighting before? Im not actually sure that this is the term for it but basically my client wants her driveway lights to light one after the other. So when she comes to the beginning of the driveway the first bank will light up then the next and so...

Hi, yeah I managed to source a 15w bulb for them so the total was 750w so I could use the easily available 1000w dimmers. That MK product however isnt being made anymore so the MK tech support wouldnt give me any advie on it... Thanks for all the awesome support as usual guys!

    Dimmers above 1000w

Hi, thanks for the advice, looks like you need some serious bits of kit for anything over 1kw! Ukmeterman, that MK product looks like the way forward I think. Im just contacting them now to see if I can link the two together to get a total of 2kw but if they can be used for one fitting or like...

    Dimmers above 1000w

Hi Guys Got a client who has bought a nice big chandelier which has 50 halogens in it! These are 25w each thus totaling 1250w. Problem I have is that he wants it to be on a dimmer switch. The only ones I can find are rated at 1000w, does anyone know a supplier or a product which I could use that...

    Staple gun

Hi, can anyone recommend a decent staple gun? One that will do heavy-ish duty staples to go into Fermacell and Wediboard but also that will accept the U-shaped staples for telephone and data cables? Theres too much choice and I dont know where to start! Thanks Steve

    Underfloor heating L-E problem

Ok cool, thanks. I installed the matt, did an IR test after taking it out of the box still rolled up, then one after I laid it before the tiler got it.

    Underfloor heating L-E problem

Hi, ok I half dont want to ask this question as it doesnt sit right but Id like your opinions. Installed a heating matt and after the tiles went down I did my final IR tests and there is now a problem between L-E at a reading of ~22ohms. The reading between L-N is still normal at 43ohms, correct...

    Circuit breaker testing

It was a brand new board i had put in and it was the kitchen circuit that was tripping so I first assumed it to be a faulty appliance. I had every part of the installation switched off except for that circuit and had a clamp ammeter on the mains tail as it was easiest to get the clamp onto. I...

    Circuit breaker testing

It was tripping at half its rated value, basically it was a 30A CB and was tripping at 16A. I had an ammeter measuring the current draw and just used appliances like kettle and toaster as I was also checking to see if these were faulty.

    Circuit breaker testing

Hi Guys Just been wondering, why dont we test circuit breakers? There's testing equipment that does this on an industrial scale but how come its not applicable in the household? Do we just have to trust the manufacturers guarantee, as ive recently fitted a CB new and it wasnt functioning...

    3 phase cable lengths

Hello Im confused, thats not hard though. Working in France(dont read too much into that), they give specific guidelines to follow so you dont have to do cable calcs and can just follow the tables. However theres something im not happy about. In their guidelines for cable lengths(to allow for a...
