    What is my Earthing Arrangement?

Is that black lead apparently coming from the lower left of the head an earthing conductor?

    Spur off spur

I hope this answers the points you have made, my answers in bold

    What's the trick

It may not be the spring type, a few have two blades and are secured into the ceiling by twisting clockwise. To remove simply twist it anticlockwise, (I think it's that way round!) if it is that type you'll know because it'll pop out really easily whereas no amount of pulling will drop it.

    Spur off spur

It doesn't, and I never said Bs7671 says two singles equals one double. I said in my opinion there is no difference in practice because both allow the connection of any two 13a appliances with a 13a plug. You are completely missing the point. A ring is protected by a 32a breaker because each...

    Spur off spur

"Why?" only applies when the spur is to feed more than one point. A fused spur enables a single cable (2.5mm) rated at < the 32a source OCPD to feed any number of points because the load is limited to 13a. Two twin sockets on an unfused spur would have a load potential exceeding the current...

    Spur off spur

'Based on this a two gang socket will draw no more than 20a'!!….. Does it have a current limiter then?? A twin socket can, and will, have two 3kw 13a appliances plugged into it just the same as two singles because the plug fits both. The type testing is based on average loadings likely to be...

    Spur off spur

I said it is not technically correct. But if I was doing an EICR two doubles on a spur would be a code 2, two singles would be a code 3. If two singles were butted together they would look like a double, a couple of meters of cable between and suddenly it's a different ball game. Not saying it's...

Light switch sparking only when off

As the light is switched off or all the time when it is off? What sort of lamp is being switched?

    Spur off spur

Were the sockets singles or doubles? Whilst not technically correct it would be acceptable in practice if both sockets were singles, as this would be no different to a double socket on a spur.

    Surface mounted box.

MK surface mounting frame K2134WHI (single) Secures over a flush point and enables fixing to the flush lugs and an accessory on the front, same depth as minitrunking, double available as well. I normally use long M3.5mm accessory screws through the unthreaded lugs into the lugs on the flush...

Spacing between clusters of sockets and switches

For standard white accessories a gap of exactly one inch between the centres of the fixing lug holes and the plates will butt together perfectly. That's my default option unless there is a likelihood of flat plate accessories in the future.

    Rcd notices.

The only boards I've had with 6 monthly notices included were starbreaker. 50 odd AFDD's on a recent order from crabtree came with a mixture of 6 monthly and quarterly!

    Rcd notices.

At least it's six monthly, I'm still getting some quarterly stickers with new boards.
