I currently have a 2 gang switch outside the bathroom - one for the light and one for the extractor:
I'd like to change the way it works slightly so that the extractor comes on if either the extractor switch is turned on or the light switch is turned on. I was wondering if anyone could offer...
Thanks. That sounds a good idea. I'd read that it was important to put an rcd in because it was in the bathroom and hadn't considered it could protect the whole of the upstairs lights. I've updated the diagram.
Thanks for the concern, I think you're right. I suppose there's a couple of reasons...
I'm thinking of installing a water flow sensor on the shower to control an extractor fan in the bathroom. I've attempted to draw a diagram of the wiring and I was wondering if anyone would mind having a quick look over it (and probably point out all of the mistakes I've made!).
I feel a bit...
Yes it's verified. If I put the ducting and fan together on the table and then picked the fan up, then the ducting would fall off. It's not a snug fit, albeit obviously only a small gap, say 1mm or maybe less all the way around it. This is unlike the other fittings I have (pipe connector, vent...
Thanks. I'd not heard of those until a couple of days ago when I saw someone suggest it on another post - I did a bit of reading and my impression was that a lot of people avoid the need by putting insulation around the ducting. Do you think that's true and if so does it work sufficiently well?
OK thanks very much for the tip. It's a pretty short run already, so if I had say 5cm of flexible either side, do you think that would suffice? Am I right in thinking I'd hose clamp the flexible pipe?
Thanks @littlespark, the outlet on the fan is 122mm and the rigid pipe 125mm, so they're quite close, just not sure if they're close enough to just silicone together (or whether silicone is indeed common practice)
Hi. I was wondering if someone could offer any advice regards the installation of an inline bathroom fan please as I'm really not sure sure what to do.
The fan I've purchased is a Vent-Axia ACM125T. The dimensions for the ducting connection is 122mm:
The issue I have is that the rigid ducting...
Thanks guys. Looks like mine is TN-S. In case anyone else finds this thread, I found this post useful: Domestic - Earthing Arrangements Explained + Photo's - https://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/threads/earthing-arrangements-explained-photos.59354/
I'm aware that a 10mm earth cable needs to run to the incoming water and gas supply but I was wondering if someone could tell me whether this should be from the consumer unit, the main incoming fuse, or both? TIA
Hi. I've been trying to change an overhead light and run into some confusion regards the wiring and I wondered if someone could advise please.
I've currently got over my confusion by doing a like for like swap of the pendant, wiring the new light into the old ceiling rose terminals. I would...
Hi Lucian, thanks very much for your response, very informative.
Just a quick note about the interconnectivity - the subwoofer connects via phono to an amp and then hdmi from the amp to tv. Given this, do you still think this is a likely cause? The sub has been transported recently although I...
Thanks for the advice David, we will likely be getting an electrician out.
In terms of the science behind how one device could affect another, can you offer any explanation?
