I've sorted out our 'Find a Trader' sections a bit on all our forums

I like the new ideas and look forward to seeing them implemented. What did we do to deserve such a great website? Thanks :)

    Microwave above sink

I don't see an issue with this. You often come across plugs in the under sink cupboard which could potentially cause more issues than a socket sited 700mm above the sink with a shelf in between it. As far as i'm aware no regulation stopping the under sink cupboard socket and so no regulation...

    Overhead tns

The roof of the house with 3 cables. All properties on the street appear to be the same, 3 cables coming from the roof of house down the exterior wall and into the dno equipment as per the picture

    Overhead tns

Hi buzzlightyear, On what grounds do you think it's TT?

    Overhead tns

Hi wilko, 0.51 is the rfc Zs not the Ze. Was unable to take a Ze due to lack of ladder. Will take that when there next. As dno is supplying 3 cables and as they are trying to sell pme I'm going to go with tns. Dno are really not as helpful as they should be!

    Overhead tns

It was only a brief look and I didn't take a Ze as I'd have needed a ladder. No up front rcd, I had a Zs on sockets of 0.51. Overall I'm airing on side of tns or tncs and ruling out overhead tt (based on them providing 3 cables). Dno say they have no idea and we're just interested in...

    Overhead tns

Dno wouldn't comment. They said they can provide an upgrade to pme at cost to the customer. If it's overhead tns as I suspect then I see no reason to force additional cost to customer to change to pme... The dno definitely are supplying 3 seperate cables to the house. Whether they have them...

    Overhead tns

Hi guys, Went to see a property today. Just wanted to clarify the supply type with you. I believe it's overhead tns but others have told customer it's overhead tt. Could you share your thoughts? There are 3 incoming cables that come from above the house and run down into the suppliers...

    Consumer Unit Change

The tattoo sounds like a great idea. It's not required, all that is required is that you change the consumer unit in accordance with bs7671 and that any and all circuits you connect to the new consumer unit test satisfactorily. In the real world you'd be foolish to change a board without doing...

    Consumer Unit Change

Hi thecodboy, Firstly good luck with your assessment! Stressful times. There is no requirement to test the circuits before you change the board. I absolutely always do but only to find problems before the board change and be properly prepared. You will be testing all circuits before...

    Rewire Specification

That's a lot of bedroom sockets! It's difficult to give a price without seeing the job. You changed bonding too? Did you put a new consumer unit? What price did you charge, can give an idea of whether it's way over or under the normal price points. Edit: Also did you not give an estimate to...

    HOFR Cable

    Specification Ratings 4kW @ 240V, (3.7kW @ 230V). 6kW @ 240V, (5.5kW @ 230V). 9kW @ 240V, (8.3kW @ 230V). 11kW @ 240V, (10.1kW @ 230V). 12kW @ 240V, (11kW @ 230V) I've taken that from your link. 11kw at 230. To mix it up though: Model Product Rating Temperature Weight Boiler Power supply...

    HOFR Cable

Does the manufacturer state 12kW rating @ 230 or 240v? If they've stated it at 240v (they normally do) then surely a 50A MCB would suffice (just!) and solve all your problems?
