RCD trip when power cut occurs

⁸ My current installation has 6 (ring,2xlight,cooker,hob,imm/gar) 3 bed semi 7mx5mbuilt (built 1986) + 6mx3m extension(built1993) Do you have any idea why rcd trips when power outage occurs?

RCD trip when power cut occurs

Yes thanks, that does make sense. I know my "ambient" total earth leakage is quite high hence swapping over to rcbo. However, this issue was specifically occurring at time of power outage not restore?

RCD trip when power cut occurs

Hello. we have had a few powercuts over past few months and am in middle of one at the moment where power has gone off a few times while DNO are trying to resolve issue. House is a mid 1980'S PME and on housing estate. Current setup is single RCD with mcbs. Am currently waiting for spark to...

    Wago topjob current ratings

Hello Can anyone confirm for me what the following spec for a Wago TopJob 2202-1201 din rail connector means? The connector can accept max 4mm solid core cable, so does this mean (see bottom row) the connector can cope with 32A? The row above says rated current is only 24A though? I’m easily...

    Hager 10 fitting front cover

Hello All Has anyone come across a problem fitting the front cover on the Hager Design 10 board over some RCBOs and a Disconnector switch? The hole in the cover doesn’t line up exactly with the devices and needs a bit of a push up to get the cover over them. Ie engage hole on underside of...

Advice and suggestions requested on random cable Crystal ball needed

Thanks for quick replies much appreciated. Yes, the cable is disconnnected in CU… both red and black wires, must admit didn’t check earth (sorry, cpc). The 6 cables going vertically are in 3 pieces of plastic capping. (LightsUp + 1 ring main leg), (Immersion + random), (LightsDown + 1 ring main...

Advice and suggestions requested on random cable Crystal ball needed

Hello All Strange question for you, I know you don’t have crystal balls :) but can anyone give me any clue on the following… I have mid eighties house (since new) and extended early 1990s. I’m just checking out the wiring (visually) prior to CU change. The original board was Wylex RCD...

    Can I get work certified

Oh, I didn’t realise there was a requirement for SPD. Could you let me know where that requirement is, so I can take a look? I would have thought AFDD were more likely to be mandatory than SPD but tbh I haven’t given either more than a cursory glance, I think at this rate I will just stick with...

    Can I get work certified

The world has gone mad. I wonder how many fires and/ or deaths this has prevented?

    Can I get work certified

Yes thanks. I’ve selected my equipment, I’m going for Hager cu with round knockouts and type a rcbo per circuit. Maybe overkill but having lived with single RCD protecting all circuits for 35+ years I realise the meaning of “nuisance” in the phrase “nuisance tripping” :) At this stage I have...

    Can I get work certified

I would do it myself and hire an mft (£60/week apparently) or maybe borrow one from someone i know who is not a registered spark. I was an industrial spark years ago but still used ohm meters, voltmeters/ voltage testers, clamp meters and IR tester to trouble shoot. Didnt have MFTs then and...

    Can I get work certified

yes absolutely😁 in an ideal world that is definitely the ONLY option. I wouldn't mind a brand new Range Rover, 6 bed mansion and a house in Caribbean either. being retired and not flush with cash I've got to try and keep costs down though. If the costs aren't that different I will pay for...
