Best PV panel cables and connectors to use for replacing existing?

Update: Incredibly, it appears that BOTH my own Aurora inverter, on which I'd carried out a E031 repair, only to find this 0.00M Riso error on reinstallation, AND the professionally-repaired replacement BOTH had the same new Riso fault! The latter occurred a couple of minutes after having been...

Best PV panel cables and connectors to use for replacing existing?

All panels giving 40+ open circuit volts, and 5+Amps in sunshine, with the last two tested showing 3+Amps as the sun dropped in the evening. Nice fat sparks. All connectors replaced with MC4s, and all cables are completely free from damage or even light scuffs. Connected up, 300+V showing at...

Best PV panel cables and connectors to use for replacing existing?

Again, answering masel'. Isc is 5.62A, which I presume is max, in full sunshine? And it's ok to insert an ammeter between the panel terminals, I've been told - ie it's happy with a 'short'.

Best PV panel cables and connectors to use for replacing existing?

I've hopefully answered some of my own Qs. Turns out I don't need any new cable as the existing is in perfect condition - no abrasions at all. I'm cutting the panel cables shorter as I replace the connectors with MC4s, and that should reduce future drapes. Is it ok to 'short' the panels using an...

Best PV panel cables and connectors to use for replacing existing?

I bought a MC4 kit, and it all seems very good - crimping the tool is certainly high quality. The MC4s also seem good quality, and are marked 'TÜV' make, which is reputable - assuming they aren't rip-offs. When it comes to new cable and MC4s, what standards should I be looking for? And, any...

Best PV panel cables and connectors to use for replacing existing?

Thanks all. Mystery solved. The Suntechs came with 'Radox Solar Connectors' attached, and - having began to remove the bottom row of panels - I see that only the two end panels have also had the MC4s fitted on the cables that head off to the inverter. All the rest simply daisy-chain together...

Best PV panel cables and connectors to use for replacing existing?

No one?! The existing panels have two plugs on them in quick succession - any idea why? Thanks.

Best PV panel cables and connectors to use for replacing existing?

Hi again. Following my recent zero-Riso issue (unresolved) and also because my system has, in any case, been prone for a good while to the odd 'Low Riso' fault following heavy rain and high winds, I'm going to begin by replacing all the cables and connectors going to my panels. It should be a...

    Aurora Power-One - zero Riso.

Hi all. Long story short - my Aurora P-One developed the common E031 fault. I carried out the repair myself (ex electronics teacher), replacing the 4 relays. On refitting, it returned a Riso - 0Mohm fault. Assuming I'd messed up somewhere, I bought an exchange unit from a reputable source, and...

FRONIUS IG Plus inverter very noisy.

Just an update. Fronius were nicely responsive, but reckoned the noise wasn't unusual. They advised filter cleaning, so I've passed that info on to the school - it looks like a perfectly safe caretaker job. :-)

FRONIUS IG Plus inverter very noisy.

Thanks all. I'll contact Fronius on guidance on that level of servicing (and, yes, I do know that both 'ends' need isolating :-) )

FRONIUS IG Plus inverter very noisy.

Hi. Our local Primary School has a couple of these inverters, installed what must be around 15 years ago. Visiting the school recently, I was surprised at how noisy they were - with the sun out, they can be heard clearly in the next corridor, through double doors. I think, pretty clearly...

Thanks Vort and Eddy. That makes sense. Cheers.

Will the DEXTRA GROUP Impervia LUXT5249 PC EL fluorescent fittings take LED tubes?

Hi. As per subject heading. We have a lot of these florrie fittings at our unit that we'd like to change to LED. The manufacturer - DEXTRA - claim that there are no LED tubes that can work in them, so we need complete new LED fittings. It would obviously be a lot less work if we could fit LED...
