It's not the DB that worries me, it's what they are re-energising. Faults are usually very minor problems involving bands with too much dodgy old kit, playing too loud. It's the worst case scenario we have to protect against.
I've never been in a commercial property where untrained persons...
What are your thoughts on letting customers access a fuseboard?
I'm working for a company that rents out rooms by the hour for people to play musical instruments and they often trip the power. These are unmanned premises. I've been asked to place a fuseboard in the corridor with RCBOs for the...
Many thanks for your reply Dom, it'll be tricky getting back up to do some more measurements as I'll have to wait for a road closure to be put in place. Usually takes a few days but I'll likely be forced to find a solution before I get the chance to return if the client has anything to do with...
Do you think that would be enough to imbalance the load? I guess it's only mA were looking at and with the amount of cables on there...
Unfortunately the frames are hung between buildings and the only way to earth it is through the supplying cable :weary:
The frames are earthed with a nut and bolt with crimped bond back to the junction box where the rectifiers split from the main feed. LEDs require DC so cheap (I assume bridge type) rectifiers are used to stop the LEDs from flickering from AC.
Hi all, another year and another problem with Christmas decorations.
I have a project with a large number of fairy lights - 230v through rectifiers, strapped to a metal grid. I am getting a pretty sizeable earth leakage per frame - around 8-10mA which increases to 15 when wet. The lights are...
Excellent, thanks Gents. This is merely so I have the correct paper trail to be available in the event of catastrophy (and also being in safe knowledge that it's fit for purpose), if I can have the contractor create a bespoke or limited certificate that covers only the parts of the installation...
Thanks for your reply Pete, that's the plan yes. We're going to test if it's fit for use. Do you think a minor works certificate can be issued if there has been no alteration? Just so we have official documentation of its soundness.
Hi Pete,
In this case yes, both are 13A Weatherseal double sockets, one located above a shopfront and the other under a theatre-like canopy. Mostly though they are 15A round-pin Lewden outlets, sometimes we're treated to a 16A commando.
Hi All,
Question from an slight outsider, apologies if this isn't in the right section. Can a single circuit be tested and certified? The circuit is permanent and unaltered (for decades probably).
I am the electrical manager at a retail Christmas decoration designer/maker/installer and have...
Top work, will need to find one with the catenary and flex running side by side but this is a great place to start. Ta! [emoji106]
All our designs go through a structural engineer and installed by experienced riggers so no problems re crimping/loading etc.
