Morning Chaps :smile5:

Will be wiring up some heating controls today and may need some advice along the way please.

This is always up until now something I have always passed on to someone else, not anymore time to bite the bullet.....

This is the spec:

combi boiler (not sure on make/model just yet)
zone valve + programmable stat just to be used on basic mode not programmed (Honeywell CM700) = zone 1 heating
zone valve + analoge stat (Honeywell T6063B) = zone 2 heating
2 channel programmer (Horstmann C27)
Everything coming back to a wiring centre

Been looking through the schematics (s plan, but just replacing the cylinder stat with room stat) and follow it fine.

Couple of questions I have already:

1/ With programable stat receiver, just trying to verify the connections on there: obviously perm L, N, E fine..... looks like brown to zone valve goes into B, but where does the switched live from the Horstmann programmer go? Sure it's A? The I reason ask is that looking in the Honeywell paperwork it has 2 different schematics one for zone valve (no obvious switched live in shown, link between A and perm L) and one for combi boiler showing different connections ?

2/ The other connection I will need to work out is where abouts my oranges from the zone valves go in the boiler. Lr if it's a Worcester ?

3/ And would I be correct in thinking all I will need at the boiler position is a L,N,E and live return from zone valve? Or have missed anything else ?

Any other pointers would appreciated.

Many Thanks,

Sy

Sy, if you search on here there's a sticky somewhere with some excellent Plan drawings for all the various forms - I printed them out myself, laminated and bound them into some quick crib sheets for being on site....nothing quite like not having to think!

AND - where I find myself needing several FSU's for isolating the various things/relays etc, I now quite often will use a small 3/4 way DIN rail box with lid (Lewden make a nice one for about a tenner), use 3a MCB's instead of fsu's, and do all the wiring centre connections inside the box - nice and neat and only one box on the wall instead of stuff everywhere. It works out cheaper, too!

Got it sorted in the end..... dont know what I was worrying about, not so bad after all that - just a load of switches really

Couldn't use my wireless stat as planned (just as a basic stat for temperature use only and have the separate programmer to set up time on/off) but no problem, changed programmer to single channel which will do zone 1 with the analogue stat. And zone 2 is programmed by the wireless stat.

Cheers Sy

Take all that back.... obviously wired something up wrong.

Had a call from the customer. Even with wireless programmable stat off boiler is constantly running in central heating mode at 70degrees just circulating in the boiler, zone valves are shut.

Any ideas what I may have done, seems like I've got a permanent feed on my switch live into the boiler some how ?

Many thanks

Sy

Have you put a permanent live on the brown wire of the valve instead of the switch wire from the stat call, ( or basically mixed it up with the grey which is permanent live and the brown is a call wire)

Also if its a Worcester it need live n neutral to go directly to the boiler first, then live n neutral away to the controls and a live return wire for boiler fire up from the orange wires of the valve
