Just got back from seeing Alien Covenant and really enjoyed it.It is miles better than Prometheus.The sets and space ships are awesome and the special effects are very gory.It mixes the elements of Alien,Aliens and Prometheus to very good effect.I now want to see it again!.Highly recommended.

If you are ok with the Walking Dead and are a bit into Sci Fi and Horror then Alien could be for you Lou. Start at the beginning with Alien

The first two films are a must see. I'm surprised that you haven't seen them... unless your younger then 23.
