Hello all, I have an outlet box in my house built in the 1920s that I am changing to a GFCI. The wiring is cloth wiring so I have a hot and a neutral.
On this outlet box I have the hot and neutral line wires coming in from the bottom, and on the top I have 2 load wires which go up to the ceiling light I presume.
My problem is, these wires are not colored or the color has faded, so I cannot tell which is hot and which is neutral.
The line wires I can obviously test with my electric tester while the power is on to find the hot, however the 2 load wires while I was disconnecting the old box, got mixed up and I cannot find out which is the hot and which is neutral before connecting to the new gfci.
I hope I worded this to where you can understand what I am talking about, I can include a diagram if need be, I am not very good with wiring so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
