Hi im employed by a small company i did my apprenticeship with this company. But now there's not alot of work i have to have days off but i don't get paid is this right cos im not self employed?

Yes a company can put you on a 3/4 day week and still keep your full time status. I believe you have to sign to this as it is a change in your working conditions.

Last month was made to hav the week off n didnt get paid for that week i havnt sign a thing aswell. He just says no work for you this week like im self employed.

There used to be a thing called Temporary Short Time Working Compensation, where the Government paid you for the days you were laid-off.

I was on it for (I think) a year around 1980, when I was working a 3 day week, then a 2 day week due to the Company going down the pan.

I can't remember if I was paid the full rate, or just a percentage of it, but it was better than nothing.

That was in the Engineering Industry and a long time ago, so maybe it doesn't exist any more.

So even tho im employed my boss can just say theres no work and not pay me to sum things up.

It would seem so, but before you go off on one with your boss, please ask yourself if he hasn't got any work coming in, where do you think he'll find the money to pay you? He's probably even more annoyed and worried than you are about this. Maybe you should quietly ask him if he knows anything about what I wrote in my post (#4) and see if this scheme still exists, or if there is a replacement scheme for it.

After the company I worked for went bust, I lost my job & became self employed in 1982. My business grew & I began employing people & did so for the next 20 years. I used to tell my employees that if the Company went bust, they would lose their jobs, but I would lose everything as everything I owned was tied-up in that business. Maybe your boss is in the same situation, so try not to be too hard on him.

Running a business can be a very lonely & scary thing to do.

thanks for the help maybe its just time for me to move on but i understand wot u are saying thanks once again.

No problem my Friend :) I hope I've been some help to you.

Having been there myself, I understand that when you're in your position, it's very easy to fail to appreciate the bigger picture (your boss's problems) & to lash-out a bit.

As you get older, you learn to step back a bit, take a deep breath, & mentally put yourself in the other person's shoes and ask yourself what you would / could do in that situation.

Often you'll find that you wouldn't / couldn't do anything different which doesn't help your money issues, but does go some of the way to promoting a better understanding of what it's all about. ;)
