i have completly forgot what this means some one give me a hint lol my mind has gone blank

Do you mean the reading keeps changing the longer you hold the test button down? Or do you mean day to day the readings change?

i havent had any i have just for got what it mean umm ok say 146 then goes to 178 n then back down to 154

Sometimes means something electronic is still connected to the circuit. Had this happen when PIRs are still connected to the circuit.

damp, water ingress, deterioration of cable, or something could still be connected electronically. Whatever it is, you will need to find it.

It's always worth giving the croc clips a sqeeze onto the conductors before testing, or running the socket adaptor in and out a few times before you go ripping the place apart looking for something more sinister....

dont do it while testing or you may get same hair do as me , normally a rising reading indicates that some thing is still in the circuit ,part of the reason why i do the initial IR tests at 250v then increase to 500v save blowing anything up
