Hello everyone!

This is my first post, stumbled across this forum whilst looking at apprenticeship reviews online. Just had some questions I was looking for some help with. I want to start an electrical installation apprenticeship this year, I was looking at going through Nottingham college, however I've also seen jtl? Is it better to go through the college? And what's the best way to try and find an employer willing to work with the college?. I'm 26 and have GCSE's in maths and English (c and B) and two A levels. I've been working in retail and office admin so far but really do want to work as an electrician and am just trying to find the best way to do it. Any replies will be greatly appreciated and thank you for your time :)

Welcome to the forum!
At 26 you're going to find it harder to get an apprenticeship than a school leaver, and there aren't enough apprenticeships to go around to begin with.

I would speak to Nottingham college and see what they say, also speak to JTL and see what they say, and also approach local electrical companies to see about doing an apprenticeship with them. The hardest part is going to be to find a company to take you on - once you've done that finding a college is the easy part. If all else fails you could put yourself through college and get your practical experience by doing agency work, like I did.
