What’s your area code?My membership No. dates back to the IEE.

Yep, well you have to try and keep up, or life will just pass you bye.....Oh you call it extending? How very modern.
That would make it ‘earthed’ yes.I'll have to reply again, what I'm saying is it CAN be connected to earth at the far end - as long as it's connected. You're clearly less intelligent than you think you are.
No idea.What’s your area code?
Time flys.....Yep, well you have to try and keep up, or life will just pass you bye.....
It’s okay. When I get in the office Monday I will check. No idea.
My IEE membership card does not have an area code.
If the IET membership card they sent me does, I don’t know, I have just looked in the wallet I use to keep old and unused cards, although it contains my blockbusters card, ITS discount card, walkabout discount card and some others, the IET card is not in there.

But then you have an extraneous conductive part in the house that’s not at the same potential as the house. How intelligent does that make you feel?
Did you mean 2It appears you are 2 digits short of an IET membership number. On your card what is your area number?
Wow. I usually go out of a Saturday night to a gig, but there's not one on tonight. I didn't realise how dangerous an existence I have been living in this place full of extraneous parts. Makes the dudes at some of the gigs look positively down to earth. Earth???That would make it ‘earthed’ yes.

So you openly admit to taking the distribution operators provided earth connection outside of the equipotential zone it serves......you should not be giving people advice on a public domain that is clear. Why would it be at a different potential when it's connected to the cable CPC which is in turn connected to the MET at the house ? Dear me this is so tiresome.
That’s Terra-bleDid you mean 2

Can you get me a free regs book then?ditto. Being a member of the IET and registered with the engineering council has its perks.
easy. you can fix the gland onto a nice hardwood box, stick a candle in the top and have a nice table lamp. alternatively, you can shove it up a kitchen fitter's arse.If anyone can think of any other use for an SWA gland other than being on the end of an SWA cable then please feel free to share your stupidity with all.

^^ so either you have done this or promote this, we are discussing supplying a ‘shed’. Or you are the troll and might I add, a very weak one.
I can think of another arse you could shove it up?easy. you can fix the gland onto a nice hardwood box, stick a candle in the top and have a nice table lamp. alternatively, you can shove it up a kitchen fitter's arse.
that 2 alternative uses.
Sorry, your right. Should have gone out, even if it was to see a Slade tributeWhat an unbelievably daft turn this thread has taken, why are you guys humouring this numpty?
ER G12 section 6. Enjoy.John Ware (Senior Engineer in the IET’s technical compliance department) wrote an article in Wiring Matters (Autumn 2005) regarding supplying outbuildings.
I suggest you have a read of it: https://electrical.----------/media...tdoors-a-supply-to-a-detached-outbuilding.pdf
Pretty certain that if there is a prohibition against exporting a PME earth, he would not advise doing so.

£82 osg and bs7671Can you get me a free regs book then?
think you need to look up the meaning of extraneous.Because it is in the HOUSE and running through the fabric of the HOUSE and in the HOUSE equipotential zone...because it’s an extraneous conductive part.....and not with a strap but with an SWA gland 134.1.1
Exposed conductive-part perhaps.think you need to look up the meaning of extraneous.
Extraneous-conductive-part: A conductive partliable to introduce a potential, generally earth potential, and not forming part of the electrical installation (4).9 Dec 2016
so in effect, you are saying that SWA is not part of the electrical installation???? Bollox..
ER G12 section 6. Enjoy.

Maybe a stress reliever/squeeze book thing if I ask?!
I think it’s more that the opinion he is promoting is rubbish than anything else.Bigbob1 .... according to the forum you have only started 1 thread .... back in 2010 ....... and hardly contributed since ...... is there any wonder that people aren’t taking you seriously ?
Oh dear, you are so dead.S##t I just realised my outside light is metal and connected to the MET via the CPC.
I think it’s more that the opinion he is promoting is rubbish than anything else.
People disagree with me all the time, but at least I can produce Reg. Nos. and what not to back my point of view.
And going to jail.Oh dear, you are so dead.
Thank you, I do try.I have every respect for your input and detail ...... something a couple of posters on this thread could learn from .....
I have read it. Section 6 enjoy. If you’re referring to Engineering Recommendation G12, I suggest you read it yourself.
The only prohibition to exporting to outbuildings is where they are or contain communication stations.
