Wow.. what a ball ache to just register!.. what with all the ads it's hard to even navigate on here.. anyway..

I just wanted to ask a question of whether the following course outline would be recommended for myself. I'm looking to qualify for domestic/commercial installation and testing, including testing of electrical equipment (plant, generators etc)and machinery.

Not sure whether this is the right forum as I'm not in a course yet but looking for some advice on one so not sure if I need to apply for the training forum.. It's run by Access Training in Cardiff. Does anyone know if they are any good.. Is the course structure recommended. It's a condensed 5 week course @ approx. £4300 inc vat.. is that decent value? Looking to start April/May 2014 in the south west Bath/Bristol/Salisbury ideally.

Hi Nathan, welcome to the forum. I've put this in the 'Electrical Courses & Electrical NVQ's' sub-forum where it's most relevant.

Once you've completed the registration process (which you have already) most of the advertising has a tab on it that allows you to close it and in your settings you can disable 'skimlinks' as well.

is the 5 week course run by disneyland, as it's mickey mouse. to become an electrician takes a 3 year course just for the core qualification. spend you £4000+ on something worthwhile.

Mate if your going into this without any knowledge then after 5 weeks you still wont even know what electricity is and how it enters our homes etc.
Not putting a damper on it mate but even after my 1st year at college i was still pretty clueless.
with that money you could do the full 3 years. why does everybody want to rush it.

I did it the fast way by going straight to 2330 lvl2 then 3

In 2 years, I was still clueless when I got to site.

there are only two viable options to becoming qualified.

Become a mate or an apprentice.

An apprentaship is better when you are younger.

A mate Is a bit slower or a lot more work.


I would be suprised if you are competent in under 2 years on the tools to go it alone

Dody my advice is simple. Save your money and keep saving it while you go to your nearest college and see out these qualifications through them. When your doing that you could be proactive in sending out your cv to companies who may or may not be looking for apprentices or mates.

Get yourself a CSCS card and register with as many agencies as you can find, then get as much experience under your belt as possible and hopefully you might get a break along the way and someone might take you on.

Only suggestions but it might help.
