how long is a piece of string? depends on cable size and run, overload and/or RCD protection, time taken, or is it just to connect a cooker to an existing outlet? if the latter about £40 + any materials.

if it was just round the corner and/or elderly, yes, a bit less, but if it's 10 miles each way £40. my local garage ( not main dealer ) charges £45 just to plug a diagnostic gizmo into a car ( 20mins )

£45? not bad for twenty mins work. i turned a blind eye to charging an elderly lady once, 5 mins later she had ten more jobs she wanted doing. lesson learned lol

The whole Garage diagnostic thing really angers me... thing is, on modern cars, they can't even complete a repair on a car without the machine, therefore I don't think they should have a seperate charge for it.

Its like going to a fault and saying "Well it'll be an extra £40 if I have to use my multifuction Tester to find the fault"

I remember when I was a lad and got sent on a 'Start your Own Business Course' by the local dole office...

Part of the course was 'Business Psychology' the guy giving the talk was asked how he decided his pricing, he stated that his local garage charged £27 an hour, and he was damned if he was going to work for less than that himself :blush2: Seemed a fair answer at the time, and has always stuck in my mind :-)
