Hi guys, been re-wiring a thatched house this week and pulling out the old rubbers, never paid them any thought but what are the conductors made of? it looks like aluminium is that right?

stranded tinned copper usually.

saying that, id rather use tri rated over standard stranded any day of the week.

except you have to crimp every end off in order to terminate it!

cobblers, never seen 7 strand crimped.

We used to take the Ferules off our shoe laces for 7.029 / 3.029 terminations, then walk 50 miles to the cobblers to get them put on again ready for the next day..

what! you got the coobler to fit them? we had to make our own from rusty discarded bean cans at the council tip. that was 200 miles and the council guys made us tidy all the tip using lollipop sticks for shovels before we could have the bean cans.
