If the property has a garden then yes. Also yes if the bathroom has no supplementary bonding. That CU is at least 30 years old, you wouldn’t expect the boiler or carpet to last 30 years. The consumer unit is also partly made of wood. That can’t be good when there are live terminals inside.
I’ve been asked by a client of my wife to have a look at a bill submitted by their builder. She’s an accountant as I’m a spark. Generally if I price on a per point basis I would charge at £65 - £70 with mid range white accessories per point and then allow £500 for DB, bonding and commissioning...
Thanks for the suggestions.
The customer has some triple rate deal where stored heat is about 1.5p less than night rate.
Am thinking of rigging up a couple of 16 amp commando plugs and sockets so they can be swapped over easily.
its a 4kw system so it's worthwhile using the PV to heat the...
I have a customer who has a dual immersion water heater. The bottom element is on off peak and the top is boost on normal. The customer has PV and wants to use his PV output to heat the water, but only in the summer.
I need to come up with a method for the customer to easily swap the off peak...
I read the green book which says lights must meet BS EN 60598. Not very helpful. Trannies are going in a plant room so I cant see why I cant use normal 105w trannies in a wiska box but every swimming pool tranny I have ever seen seems to be a conventional wire wound one so I presume there must...
A customer has has some new submerged pool lights partially installed by pool man who has now disappeared.
Customer wants me to get them working.
SY flex has been run to Certiken JB for connection to pool lights. Its only 2.5mm but its only 5m so hopefully volt drop wont be a problem.
There...
The Chinese panels are Kinve. I've done 21 installations - normally I fit Hyundai although I have fitted others including Schott, REC, Suntech and a french firm called Sillia. The Suntechs I fitted were out of square and had loads of messy silicone between the backing sheet and the frame and...
A customer has come back to me with feedback on a quote.
House is a converted stable, not a 12 panel estate house.
Large company quoted pennies under 7k + VAT for 16 panel installation with Chinese panels I've never hear of with Power One inverter. Layout is 2 rows of 8 columns landscape...
Am thinking of taking this on despite the fact that I'm not entirely comfortable with it being rented as a service and that my data is on someone else's server.
its 1200 a year but saves me the hassle of updating the MCS manual and searching new master documents.
On the plus side if they have...
Trying to build an equipment list for a job on Wednesday.
Its a Kalzip round seam roof with seams at 400mm centres.
I'm using Schletter clamps
Its 3 rows of panels, 12 panels in each row.
Do I need to clamp every seam or every other seam, or perhaps every third seam.
I've not done any metal...
Mine took 8 weeks booked July 2011. Think it would be less now. If you allow time to sort out non conforms you need to allow another few weeks by the time you go on MCS. I had 4 non conforms, one of which needed clarification - all that took 6 weeks to appear on MCS, you need to check every day...
Has anyone got a spare STP250S-20/Wd
My assistant dropped a pair of side cutters on one and shattered one of the 12 panels required for an installation.
Hampshire area
Went back today and fitted henley block and main switch supplementary board to test. Inverter is tripping RCD on main board still - not sure that could be. Swapped inverter for 3000HF I had in the van for next job. Works fine. I think 2500HF is faulty although I think the RCD may be faulty too.
