I've recently moved into a house and would like to check please whether an immersion heater that looks recently fitted has been correctly wired.
It's rated at 3Kw and is wired with 2.5mm2 cable from a 16a MCB. The isolator switch is embossed 'immersion heater' and matches the images of 20a...
It appears a sparks has connected the live of one lighting circuit cable to the neutral of an adjacent cable using a cable connector in order to obtain a power supply? The circuit has worked fine for 2 or 3 years but has now failed.
While the cable triggers the NCV there is no current or...
Yes, take your point - I've lodged an enquiry with Power Networks as to feasibility. No I hadn't thought of LPG boiler - funnily enough there was an old one here when we moved in which wasn't in use and we had it removed. Issue here really is the space required for tanks/boiler, but it's worth...
Next issue - even in this weather, with electric heaters on a lot, no tripping at all. But - we are looking at heating the pool, which would take at least 15Kw elec heater (no gas/oil). There is a 60a supply (single phase) to pool house which drives pump and heat exchanger (which apparently only...
Can't find a Flexiclamp 200 anywhere, even Ebay. I guess one might come up sometime, in the meantime I'll go for the cheapo Amazon one - thanks Taylortwocities for the advice re ohter influences
Thanks again for the suggestions, I'll have a look at the Flexiclamp.

Thanks for the suggestions, some good ones there. CU might be the best bet, though space is a little limited. I also thought you needed to avoid close proximity to other conductors as that might affect the magnetic field. I'll go for the cheap clamp meter off Amazon and experiment - though as I...
Maybe the idea is a flexible adapter, a hoop you can unplug and pass behind the conductor and then re-plug, pushing the banana plugs at the other end of the adapter into your multimeter. Not cheap at £100+ though.
