Hi all Got a question regarding HMO compliance. Visited property today for landlord looking to apply for an HMO license for one of their properties. She hasn't received any detailed stipulations from council on requirements for emergency escape lighting although this will be required as...

UK Immersion heater on a Nest

Hi all Have had a request from customer that would like their immersion heater controlled via a Nest. It has standard 2 elements and is not on Economy 7. My initial suggestion was to just put in on a Horstmann timer but he is adamant would like it on Nest, has bought the bits already including...

EV charger considerations on TT supply

Hi all. Will have to forgive me for enquiring about basic question but would rather be sure of all considerations than not. Went to view property for potential EV install yesterday. Parallel paths on R1 + R2 test

Hi Pete I don' think I can do end to end readings as over multiple floors? The leads were nulled yes. Have just tested a seperate circuit and how similar readings with a 0.30 lower difference again with r1 + r2 this does parallel paths no?

Hi there Doing some testing at moment. R1 + R2 readings coming in lower than R1 + Rn. Cpc neutral and live all disconnected. There is alot of containment on job and adaptable boxes are all fly leaded to earth. My thoughts are they are parallel earth paths but guy working with seems to think...

IR test with transformers and dimmer on circuit

Very true about logic of sometimes wiring to switches but here I really can't see what they was thinking it's a wooden plinth box cut into and can only get depth of shallow back box really with size of dimmer really is hard work getting all conductors at back of box

IR test with transformers and dimmer on circuit

Is 500v not likely to damage transformers of down lighters? Also in this scenario for some silly reason all properties have been fed to switches so have atleast 5 neutrals and cpc's at back of box. I am trying to avoid as much any taking off and putting back of switch faces (which would have to...

IR test with transformers and dimmer on circuit

Evening Chaps On a job at moment and testing lighting circuits that have a lot of down lighters and a dimmer. Am I correct that if I disconnect live neutral and cpc from board join L-N together with all switches in closed position and test this to cpc and do IR test I have pretty much proved no...
