    Eddy currents in metal trunking

Hi all. I am installing some metal trunking vertically in a meter cupboard to contain all the meter tails for an apartment block. I have 5 sets of tails entering one “row” of meters, and about 300mm further down the trunking I have another 4 sets of tails entering the other row of meters. Due...

Great, really appreciate the reply! I’ll try and digest it all & make a start after work today! Will keep you posted!

    UK Static/Tingle from shower/towel rad.

Thanks Telectrix, i’m going over after work so will carry out an R2 test & see what reading I get! 1580205281 Thanks for the reply Dabbers, yes all in copper, I did test between the rad/shower with my voltage tester & all I got was continuity... hope this helps? 1580205533 Very confusing...

Thanks snowhead, would you recommend testing all circuits in & around the bathroom in question? Not really sure where to start with the next step to be honest as this is a first for me!

    UK Static/Tingle from shower/towel rad.

Hi, working in a property a couple of years old. Earthing System is a TN-C-S. Customer’s daughter/wife have both complained about receiving a “slight tingle/static sensation” when using the shower in only one of the bathrooms (when touching the shower/or towel rad). I’ve checked the incoming...

Ze / PFC conundrum at factory

I've asked a couple of people about this as it didnt look right to me & i'd never seen it before & they seemed to think it was perfectly acceptable. Seems a very lazy/odd way to do it as DB3 & 4 arent too far away from each other & DB3 has plenty of space in it! Frustrating coming across things...

Ze / PFC conundrum at factory

Yeah i'll go with that so you can see all consumer units are on certificates for the sake of the install, wont hurt for future reference either. I suppose in even bigger installations where there are multiple DB's not associated with one you are installing a new circuit in, it's acceptable not...

Ze / PFC conundrum at factory

True, thanks for the help all. I'll be going back next week to finish off. One more thing (i'll try not to make it sound too confusing), i'm carrying out an installation cert (see the consumer unit layout below) Consumer unit @ origin (4way tp) > (feeding) DB 1, & DB 2 (via 2x D63a mcbs) -DB1...

Yeah I did but got over 40kA still and was wondering if i'd missed a trick is all!

Ze / PFC conundrum at factory

Ok great, when you say calculate with a ze of 0.01, how do you go about this to get a relative kA reading?

Ze / PFC conundrum at factory

Ok great, so would you record the ka as you get it at the main consumer unit?

Ze / PFC conundrum at factory

Cheers Wilko, Westward... when I test from DB1 in the factory itself, the readings go back to normal which tells me its not my tester. It is close to the substation actually, didnt realise this would give me a high pfc & low ze! So a possible option to find a more accurate reading would be to...
