I asked a similar question of Elecsa a couple of years ago regarding T&E running through a backbox to identify a drop, before going through a wall. They told me that as long as the T&E is continuous, then the backbox does not need to be earthed, as the cable is insulated and sheathed.
Apparently some contract firms are charging £3k per week for their electricians on certain high level projects. Multiply this by 52 (as we all work 52 weeks per year) and you get "electricians earn £156k per year". Must be great to live in a world where logic is so simple.
I've just done the exact same job, except from a detached garage on an old property. Gas central heating, so used 16mm 3-core swa with a 60amp switch fuse.
