    10.5kw shower wired in 10mm twin n earth on a 40A breaker a problem

I can only assume that he was referring to the 5s disconnection time, at the time.

I'm still here Tel... Just not very often. I see that I have no titles any longer though, which is fair enough :)

I'm assuming that the OP is going to deal with that part...

    Is this a bit of a stitch-up

I often hear these types of conversations in the local Screwfix, and have to keep saying to myself "just keep out of it...."

Nail on the head.... Even a locked cupboard doesn't alter the location. Glad to hear that it's being moved :)

You either trust the opinion of this electrician, or you don't. If you don't, then get a few other quotes.

    Have a major problem

I have done, and do on occasions, but I find it's easier to keep the chase as shallow as possible with the washer method.

    Have a major problem

Metal capping should be banned in my opinion. PVC oval conduit fixed with screws and penny washers.

    Backbox earth points

Shove em all into a wago and take one lead to box. That way, at least you know that they're all secure before testing.

Bonding of conduit in kitchen floor

I asked a similar question of Elecsa a couple of years ago regarding T&E running through a backbox to identify a drop, before going through a wall. They told me that as long as the T&E is continuous, then the backbox does not need to be earthed, as the cable is insulated and sheathed.

Earth bond clamp for oil pipe

I've never had an issue getting standard earth clamps to fit a 10mm oil pipe.

Apparently electricians are earning over 150k a year!!

Apparently some contract firms are charging £3k per week for their electricians on certain high level projects. Multiply this by 52 (as we all work 52 weeks per year) and you get "electricians earn £156k per year". Must be great to live in a world where logic is so simple.

Suggestions for best way to wire underground supply please

I've just done the exact same job, except from a detached garage on an old property. Gas central heating, so used 16mm 3-core swa with a 60amp switch fuse.
