    Is this asbestos? Or Not?

If you want to get it tested I've used this guy before. Single test is about £25 Asbestos Testing | Asbestos Analysis - Terence Martin Ltd - https://www.terencemartin.net/asbestos-surveys/asbestos-sampling.htm

    Issue with cat 6 connection

Did you use Krone or 110 punchdown tool to match the terminations on the modules? They are different and using the wrong one in the wrong terminal may produce inconsistent results.

    Suggestions for Lighting Control Systems

I'm familiar with Lutron and similar high end systems, but wondered what contractors are using in the residential sector, for new smaller installations (maybe one or two rooms). For example, where a client has a mix of conventional circuits such as downlights, pendants, etc and would like basic...

    Anyone seen this symbol before?

Yes, LEDs have come on a lot in recent years. One that is good for chandeliers is SALE Candle (CL 11000) | Civilight - https://civilight.nl/nl/producten/sale-led-retrofit-bulb-cl-11000-118/ with silver housing and a crystal element built in (they used to be available in a gold finish as...

    Anyone seen this symbol before?

I agree about ceiling heights, but the places I work in are generally 2 storey atrium's or 3.5-4m ceilings.

Sorry, I disagree. You should never fit frosted/pearl lamps of any variety in a crystal chandelier.

    Anyone seen this symbol before?

One issue with crystal chandeliers is they are designed for point source lamps, to get the best internal reflections from the crystal elements. There are now some LED lamps that attempt to replicate the point source, but in the early days of energy saving lamps (CFLs and LEDs) the only option...

    Anyone seen this symbol before?

A lot of high capacity dimmers required a metal faceplate to assist with heat dissipation so don't take a dimmer off a metal plate and fit to a plastic one.

Any Lutron Homeworks installers got an HWI-WCI on the shelf you no longer need?

If so drop me a PM please ;)

Anyone know what this light is called?

It could be a version of a uniplug system such as Bruck (it's not Bruck though). If it is, the white ferrule at the top of the rod will unscrew allowing the top to "unplug" from the ceiling socket. Then unscrew the knurled nut on the socket to release the ceiling plate.

Anyone know of a shallow Besa Box?

MDJ: thanks, although I thought the only ones I recall seeing were quite a bit larger diameter than a besa box? rich: Thanks, have tried to find that on the MT site but their search doesn't seem to want to work for me. Any chance of a link?? I did find their TCR2 ceiling rose adapter...

Anyone know of a shallow Besa Box?

We have a few Klik plug-in ceiling roses to install in a low ceiling cottage, but they are directly under some Oak and Steel beams that have been plaster-boarded over :bigcry: The rear of the Klik rose is very shallow so thinking of a shallow besa box to recess into the plasterboard - depth...

    Using a 6mm T&E to feed a Ring Main

Thanks guys, that's confirmed what I was thinking, but couldn't identify anything specific in the regs. Cheers.

    Using a 6mm T&E to feed a Ring Main

I'd appreciate peoples views on this, including compliance or otherwise with the regs. I've come across a 1-bed flat where one ring main serves the small kitchen, and boiler & security alarm. The unusual thing is that the ends of the ring are then connected to a single 6mm T&E that runs back to...
