Ive just found the ELPA8 timer switch data sheet and it says a max of 300w LED load. I've got 320 watts. I cant believe its that sensitive that it would not work due to an additional 20 watts.
I assume the issue is because the load is to low.
The lights will come on if you press the override switch on the timer. If I switch it back to the timer function they work once and then just wont be pressed back on again.
It seems as though the timer switch needs a certain load to reset itself.

Made a bit of a boo boo and have replaced 10 standard light fittings in a stairwell for LED's without thinking about whether or not the staircase timer would work with it. It didnt!
Can anyone recommend a staircase timer switch that will work with 320w of LEDs? Ive searched on line and come up...
Thanks Dave. That makes sense. I have never seen a TT Ze lower than around 20ohms so am I to assume the install was incorrect when it was fitted approx 30 years ago?
Understood, however this installation does not have an RCD and the work I am carrying out, ie replacing a cooker, does not require an RCD. I need to know the max Ze for a TT system without an RCD.

Been out to replace an oven on an installation which pre dates the need for RCD's so only has MCB's, the earthing arrangement is TT. As I am only changing the oven this need not be RCD protected but is the maximum Ze still 200ohms?

In this months Professional Electrician mag the caught on camera section has a pic of a blown up plug (bottom right) and a comment on loads of stuff running from it and being overloaded. Am I missing something, because surely if it was overloaded the 13amp fuse would blow?
