Discuss Annual assessment in the Certification NICEIC, NAPIT, Stroma, BECSA Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net
ThanksThe current guidance for assessment visits for Domestic Installers includes this statement: "Domestic Installer Applicants: A consumer unit change on its own or minor works are not acceptable for an applicant assessment."
Discussing this only a few weeks ago at my last assessment, I was told this might change. I used to only offer a CU change (with ELECSA and initially with NICEIC when merged into them) but last year and this I had to show more.
Not sure if this will be an official change, or just my assessor saying he would accept it (I've shown complete rewires in the past, and he knows I've not forgotten how to do them!).
But right now, yes I'd be sure to offer more. Depending where the CU is, you can always put in a small new circuit e.g. in the garage, under the stairs, utility, loft - if necessary for free for the customer in exchange for having access for the assessment.
