Hello guys! Just a quick question, is it good practice to place a socket on the same wall where the light switch is? Customer wanted socket on the same wall where light switch is. In my experience I have never seen sockets on the same wall as light switch. Please give me advice guys. Thank you.

It is fine what do you think the problem would be?

It’s sometimes and advantage as you can get cables for both, down the same chase in the wall.

There is no reason not to put sockets wherever you like….

It’s worse to put a socket somewhere that’s never going to be used…

I have put one adjacent to a light switch no problem.

The one problem that can arise is 'safe zones'. If a single socket is placed directly under a light switch and all cables come from above, how do you get the cables to the socket past the switch with them remaining in an approved safe zone?

move the socket over a little bit, so they’re not directly in line. 😉

Pass them behind the back box.
Or

Use a deeper box and pass them straight through.

Pass the cable through the back box of the light

Along with already suggested.

You could surface mount them and use trunking or use quinetic for the switch.

Electricians certainly like making mountains out of mole hills.

kinda lost track of the initial query.....

yes, you can put a socket on same wall as a switch, and if anyone says different.... they're removing the urine

Are the switches fed from the top and the spur fed from the bottom though :)
