do any of you butt crimp circuits or are their any other methods out there?

How far are you moving the CU.

the old c/u was in a cupboard in lounge and they wanted it putting in the cellar where it use to be years ago where electric meter is. your looking at 4 foot. directly underneath cupboard into cellar.

Just crimp the cables and use some 50mmX50mm PVC trunking to extend the cables to the cellar,if the customer is happy with this.Unfortunately you may need to replace the bonding for the utilities if the legs are too short.

What the NICEIC say and what the regs say are not always the same. But yeah, sometimes you have to crimp. But I agree if short runs then replace them.

Yes I agree, if they are short why not replace, also if you are linking gas and water supplies then you can also crimp 2 cables into 1 lug and this is considered unbroken
