I currently have a single electric oven and gas hob both of which are connected to a 32 amp (via a red switch isolating switch) fuse. I would like to remove the gas hob and install an induction hob with a power requirement of 7.4 kw. My question is will the 32 amp fuse be sufficient?

Thanks for any help.

Yes. Probably

We would apply diversity to the 7.4kW… which means you will never use the full 7.4 at any one time, nor the full rating of the existing oven.

What is the rating of the oven, and we can work out from there.

You may also need a gas engineer to disconnect the old gas supply and cap off, plus making the hole bigger in worktop.

As above. We need the figures to be sure, but for an ordinary domestic oven, the calculated load, after diversity, is likely to be well within the capacity of the existing circuit.
I'd be more concerned as to whether the appliances on the ends of the two existing flexible cables are installed to their respective manufacturer's instructions.

In laymans terms the stove will work fine on 364 days of the year. There's a small chance it might trip the circuit breaker once a year when you're using every ring plus the grill and the oven whilst you're cooking Christmas dinner.

Thanks for your replies. Just one more question why does the cable from the hob have two live and two neutral wires as well as the earth?
Higher power hobs these days often allow connection to different electricity supplies (eg 3-phase) for use in Europe, and there are several terminals and configuration links where the wires connect in the hob. Hence more conductors in the cable the manufacturer supplies. For UK single phase they get paralleled up.
If you have the installation instructions you should find a diagram of the connection options.
