This site seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. I have been registered with the NICEIC as the QS for the past four years for my employer, and have done various night classes and a lot of reading to make sure the work I do is safe and compliant. I work on my own and only have the NICEIC helpline to refer to for advice on the not so straightforward matters that I come across day to day. Although my primary work is in property renovations, it is the design, installation and inspection and testing work that I enjoy the most. I don't get to speak to other electricians about best practice or other such things and have a van full of guides and books that I consult, so am looking forward to chatting to others (lets face it no one who isn't an electrician wants to talk about it) and hearing other opinions.
My employer has over 40 properties, domestic and commercial, I am responsible for the assessment and implementation of refurbishment of newly acquired properties and for the maintenance of existing ones. We are currently expanding into bringing in external work, and I'm pushing for more electrical work as that's what I enjoy.
