Hi, prepping for a PIR on a town centre small retail shop being taken over by new business. Early days but it looks like it's also a change of use.

Should I request/check that a fire risk assessment is carried out before doing the PIR? Thinking is, for example, what if FRA says additional emergency lighting or signage is required. If existing service segregation is inadequate, the PIR could be richer in that it could address this from the point of view of "expected usage" and therefore be more meaningful and wholesome to the client, and indeed for the designer and installer of any remedials/upgrades.

Thanks loads, SW

What have you been asked to inspect to?
BS7671 on it's own, or to suplementary standards and/or local authority licencing requirements?

Hi Spin, just to BS7671 - client's focus is on whether it's safe or not and can lease be negotiated etc.

I would then just test it to BS7671, obviously any illuminated fire exit signs and emergency lighting should comply with the requirements of BS7671, but anything with regards to the positioning, number or Lux levels will be outside of the scope of BS7671.
