This person requires some work. They've hopefully explained their skills and qualifications and what area they're in. Otherwise, what's the bloody point?

Hello all, I am looking for work as an electrician's mate or as an improver in the West Midlands area.

I have the C&G 2365 level 2&3 and currently preparing for the 18th edition exam. I am relatively new to the industry and have worked for some months for an agency until the work came to an end. I am in my 40's, (hope that wont put anybody off) but in good health and fit for any hard work, and a good team player.

I like this industry and hoping I will get some work opportunity that will enable me to start my NVQ. I have PPE, drive and have at least all the basic tools.

Hi there.

A good way to start is working through agencies, looking on CV Library/ Indeed etc for "electricians mate" or "electrical labourer" etc opportunities. It might be a good idea to register for CIS and self employed if you haven't already, as this is usually required for most jobs. Most construction sites require you to have an ECS card, you can get this by doing the H&S exam and showing them a letter or qualification from a college.

If you go onto websites for competent person schemes such as NICEIC etc, you can get a list of local electricians, most of them list their phone numbers and emails which enable you to send them emails or call directly, just don't be put off if you only get a few responses. It's a numbers game and the more you put yourself out there, the more chance you're gonna get your foot in

Thanks for your input. I have ECS card already. Will look in your suggestions. If I don't get something steady soon will probably consider working as a volunteer if it will help me to do the NVQ
