I have noticed in the past few weeks that certian members of this forum and being very nasty and unhelpful to new members to the forum. I have kept quiet at the start but in the last couple of times I have spoke up and asked these people to give the new members a chance but it keeps happening. When I have spoke up the Moderators of the forum do not back me up but instead just close the thread. This is very strange . I would have thought that the forum would want new members to feel welcome. I know I am not the only one to dislike the attitude by certain members as I have recieved a few private messages saying that I said the correct thing and it was about time someone did.

Lets try to bring the forum back to the freindly, helpful place it used to be and stamp out the smart arse answers which make others feel small.

i think, hawk that some members are a little judgemental at times. sometimes it's not easy to differentiate between a genuine newbie question and a stupid post where the op posts a thread when, by simply looking up the brb or osg can readily find an answer. perhaps it would be better if certain members thought back to when they asked questions which they would laugh at now.

Hawks i have noticed this to and like you have had a few private messages , really it's as the mods have said in the past if you dont like a thread and cant give a constructive answer then dont reply simple , it is a very friendly forum with as i have said many time knowlage that is endless , we know you mave the DIYer on here but at the end of the day we also have new sparks and apprentices students etc , every little bit of help we give can make the world of differance to a nervouse and green spark ,and agree with tel too best way to learn is finding your way round the regs and at the end of the day if you can do that you can pass the 17th edition ,its like driving a car , you take the lessons and when you pass your test you then start to learn to drive and its the same with the regs ,
All we can do on here is Be nice be friendly and learn and advise we can all learn on here

It hasn't gone un noticed chaps I can assure you.

I have infact removed a couple of members this morning. I am partly to blame as I have so much work on at the moment my forum time has decreased immensely.

I will try my best to weed out the scoundrels and appreciate your input also i.e if you spot anything, please hit the 'report post' button to bring it to my attention as I dont have time to read each and every post on each and every thread at the moment as I'm sure you can appreciate the forum is simply to busy to be able to do that.

Many thanks for your help chaps and we promise to do all we can to keep this forum a safe and friendly place for everyone.

Lenny.

Just to add my pennies worth.

I fully agree with the op with regards to the way new members are received on the forum but we can't let these threads develop into open slagging matches. That is why it is better to nip it in the bud and close the thread before it gets out of hand.

Sintra and Lenny i totally agree with both of you guys Lenny your in now way to blame mate ,relistically if your a member of the arms then we should be like the PSO's of the forum watching out for the idiotic comments and slagging matches ( not the joke ones of course we all like a laugh ) and reporting where nessesary , have hi respect for you guys and thanks for a superb forum too

We do run a reasonably tight ship here and Lenny and the boys do an excellent job, FREE OF CHARGE.

We also expect members to behave in an adult way and not start or join in any slanging matches that may develop.

If anyone has a problem with a post, thread or PM, then report it, dont respond to it.

This way we can act on it fairly quickly.

It simple fellas, if anyone starts getting personal with abusive comments towards other members, then your out. End of.

I agree with hawk 100% and pm him as such, Jason please don't think for a moment that those of us that are serious don't recognise and appreciate what you and the mods do for the forum, and the commitment and humour you guys demonstrate. Maybe one day we will show such commitment.

We know that the mods can't wade into arguments, take sides or adjudicate, we know that they can only keep a eye and close threads if it gets rowdy, and to be fair that's the way I for one would prefer it to stay as I don't ever want to but heads with them over a opinion.

Len u don't need to explain your workload to us my friend as your commitment on here speaks for itself!!

I agree with Hawk, I even stopped coming on for a while after a difference of opinion with some of these people left a sour taste. But the mods have managed to re assure me in this post that they are aware and watching which is good enough for me!

I just don't want us to loose the warm welcome that I experienced when I first arrived

:D every village needs one mate thats why your still here :D

on a serious note though thanks go out to the people who do either hit the report button or send me or any of the mods who are on line a suttle hint to a thread that may go the wrong way. sometimes its a bit of a judgement call on when it should be closed or moved etc and no doubt closing or moving will be at the wrong time for someone but its for the greater good hopefully. also as has been mentioned lenny we dont always read every post as i would need all day sometimes :)

can i also say to the members who do tow the line and respect the rules a big thank you as the place really benefits from your input and experience.

The naughty step has too many people sat on it. Your booked in for the 5th of next month.:)

Totally agreed with all what has been said on this thread. I have sent the odd pm to Phil, Sintra and Lenny if the post in question does not warrant hitting the caution button (mainly at 4am when all the **** spam gets posted, I send a pm about 04:15 lol).

Jokes aside all the mods do a great job and some people don't give them the respect that they deserve. So well done Lenny, Sintra and what's the other one called?........ oh yeah Phil.

Thanks very much, very kind of you !! I'm here for good always was, just been busy and thought it was time to have a holiday from this place before I said something I would come to regret!

You don't get rid of a muppet like me so easy!!

My point was never to have a go at any of the mods. I think Jason, Lenny, Phil and Sintra do an amazing job. This forum is an excellent forum and is run to an extremely high standard. Thanks guys. Most of the guys who use this forum are a great bunch of fellas but of coarse as with anything there are a few bad apples. All I was trying to say was before closing a thread maybe a warning to the offender that their behavior will not be tolerated. I think a couple of these where everyone can see it will make others think twice before typing. I want to do my bit to help as I fully understand that not all threads can be read by mods. In the future I will report posts rather than respond. Again great job guys and please keep it up.
