Part P certification

Hi I am an electrician with my NVQ level 3, 2382, and 2391 qualifications and am looking to start out on my own. I am looking to get Part P registered as I have always been employed before and not required it. As well as passing the course do I need to register with 1 of the competent person schemes? And if so which ! would people recomend? Thanks

If you have the qualifications you say then you should be able to register with a scheme provider and will not need a course.
The scheme provider will come out and do an assessment of your knowledge and existing work and if you pass the assessment you are Part P registered.
I am with ELECSA and find them very helpful and human (and cheaper than the others) the ECA link is also useful. Napit seem OK as well. Not sure about the other three, obviously because of the excess approach of the big one they are recognised but legally no more than the others.
