I recently tested a doctors surgery and found a number of ring mains
are too large. r1 1.9 rn 1.9 r2 2.7. Zs 1.47 supplied from a type 2 32 amp breaker
could anyone suggest how best to rectify this.
Dont really want involved with the remedials but don't usually refuse work.
any of u guys any suggestions

Im sure 1 ring main should not cover more than 100m2 floor area

Sorry to point it out again but there's a hell of a difference between 100 metres square and 100 square metres.
Obviously the regs state the former but there does seem to be a lot of confusion over the matter

did the test involve visual inspection maybe wire came loose when putting the socket face back on

A few computers, printers, a small kitchen
think your right a 20a is the cheapest and easiest way to rectify

What is the floor area of this place? I can't imagine it being a massive place. As someone said above, did you check all terminations to make sure they're nipped up nice n tight?

It's an old building over 4 floors
basement, ground, 1st, 2nd
havent done the floor area I was just trying to pick some peoples brains
really

I think you'll need a slightly more scientific calculation to convince a doctor of your "remedy"!

Not if it's my doctor who just nods and smiles at everything I tell him - which is why six months down the line I am still no nearer to finding out what is wrong with me than I was at the start!!!

4 FRC in this building and I estimate the wiring about 30 year old
the circuit has been extended at some time but been done properly
with crimp joints in the back of the sockets
the other ring aims are large aswell

Obviously the regs state the former

The only mention of this since the inception of the 17th Edition was that it was a "historical" requirement, and as such no such Regulation still exists!
