Hello,

I'm a plumber by trade and I need to fit an electric shower, it's already got a power supply doesn't look man enough for a 8.5kW electric shower, i was hoping you could point me in the right direction to make compatible. 1000015036.jpg1000014904.jpg

You would need 6.0mm minimum size of cable, but depending on route, might be better going straight to 10.00mm

It would certainly need RCD protection, which we would need to see the main board to clarify.

Is that little fuse board there being used? Looks like a fused spur coming off it and possibly a light?
Can you see what size of cable is feeding it? (Size might be moulded into the outer sheath plastic)
You can maybe reuse the cable, if those circuits can be supplied from elsewhere….. but it doesn’t look to me that it’s big enough.

Thanks for your help, I'm going to go have a look today, i believe the white cable is 6mm feeding the fuse spur, could I connected with 3 way connector and run 6mm through the wall to a 7.5kW shower? I'll check if protected by board.

Alternatively could I remove the 6mm and put 10mm in its place?

To me, it appears the grey cable feeds the little fusebox, and could only be 4.0mm.
White cables are the outgoing circuits to whatever it’s supplying.

If it’s an easy route back to the board, best to put the shower on its own circuit, protected by rcd and an isolator switch before going to the shower.

Ideally, and to comply with Part P building regs, you should get an electrician to design, install and test this circuit…. It could be a much bigger job than you think if there’s no rcd at the board.

Okay, I'll just do the plumbing and get an electrician in for the wiring, thanks for the help

I would say the grey cable is at least 6.0 across to a 4.0 then a 2.5.

The whole thing looks a bit of a mess, hanging cables and junction boxes, 15A fuse holder fitted to 30A base etc.
