Without changing the fuse board what would be the best way to get a 50a supply to a shower.

I was hoping If I could not get an RCBO just an MCB to supply an RCD unit.

Wishful thinking

What type/make of board?

Keep the existing fuseboard and add a separate 'mini' CU that has an RCD and an MCB in it (aka shower unit)
Or is that not what you are looking for?

Does that comply to amendment 3 mate?

That was just a stock photo. My computer does not have to comply with AMD3. Other units are available.

This will be the best way to go if I can’t fit anything in the board, I don’t think I will as it’s an old 3871 type MCB.

They did produce single pole rcbos for those and modern ones will not fit and I am not sure they went up to 50A, probably 45A.

I'd definitely fit a separate stand alone 1 way RCD unit with appropriate MCB, they're not too expensive but the metal ones do need a bit of space.

what wattage is the shower?

Yes good point, no RCD protection at all as it is.

Probably fully compliant with the 14th edition.:)

You won’t even get a 50A MCB for that board!

I do my best to steer clear of showers that powerful Chris, at the more realistic voltage of 240 that's 45 amps, even 10mm cable if running through insulation can get hot , I'd stick to a maximum of 9.5kW but that's just me.
