News New Forum Style for Electricians Forums - Feedback Wanted

I've just changed the style to our forum. This will be the style now for a while. For Subscribed members there are no sponsors ads now, as it was meant to be. I've just given myself subscribed to check and sponsors have been there all along and nobody has told me I don't think?

I'm not sure I like it as much as www.PlumbersTalk.net but I think it's better than the stock style for sure.

Opinions please?

Straight away, Dan... i'd say the text in messages is a tad too small... or is that something we can adjust at a user level?

Sponsor ads didn't bother me. They're there for a reason, and were tucked away down the right hand side (on PC) or at the bottom (on mobile)....

Too much white background.... can see how dirty my screen is.

No adds fantastic, text is a bit small but hey I just cranked it up to 125 lol no problem.

Load a page incognito / logged out. Or hold the iPad sideways let the page open see if that changes it.

Ive increased the size and it has increased a bit on my Android phone and laptop. Pretty sure now the same size as before to me.

I notice the forum list of thread titles doesn't distinguish between read and unread messages.

It used to be bold for unread, and normal for read, or replied to already

Emails reverted back to old style for now. Ill tart them up myself as they need cleaning up a bit.

Scroll to the bottom of the forum and ive quickly installed another style. Needs SEOing and customising still.

With the existing style the logo will be orange and blue text white background..

With the other style called EF 2nd Option its an black header background colour so logo will be as usual.

Keeping it all on trend.

Which one do you prefer people?

Hi Dan,

The layout is fine, but the colours are extremely difficult to read, especially the reds and greens, (unless they are used in a solid dense tone). Please spare a thought for the colour deficient readers (yes, there are quite as few 'colour-blind' electricians out there).

I've just enabled a cloudflare human check. Our stats are off the charts.

This is 24hr unique visitors.

This is 7 days.

2 weeks is 1 million.

30 days is 1.9!

Seems fishy to me. Will leave this human check on for 24 hours and check again.

Yeah the design is less bunched up intentionally I think. A minor issue ill look at down the road as things like that will unsettle my ocd a fair bit.

We appear to have been targeted (or caught up in somebody else being the target using some of our same network) with sustained DDOS attempt using Singapore and Hong Kong bot network but they didn't send anywhere near enough to even cause lag.

Ive blocked those countries and will keep an eye out for Russian and Ukrainian ones as those are as common.

Only this forum not our others or the server.

Glad i checked network stats as I nearly didn't.

That has a massive effect on ad revenue as theyre loading a page (14,000 times) and never clicking anything else inc an ad.

So my focus moved to that

Oh yeah depends what device you're on. Seems the font size needs adjusting. Will stick it on the list.

Replies are there on mobile vertical. Horizontal they go. Neither views there.
