Adult retraining, which avenue is the best to set you up to be competent and provide your best chance at gaining employment?

Hi guys, I’m a rope access technician having worked on and around building sites for the past 7 years. I’ve carried out a wide variety of tasks and are competent on the tools. I’m wanting to retrain as a spark, from doing some research it seems a c and g course level 2/3 then get work with a...

Best route to retrain into electrician route, having done site work.

Cheers for getting back to me dude, yeah I assumed as much. I’m a little confused with the different quals as well. Going down domestic work only what’s the criteria to be able to sign off your own work and then do inspections and test?. I’m OCD and take pride in what I do, going the extra mile...

Update of the past apprenticeship quest.

When agencies ask me have I got any knowledge I'm honest and say no, labouring is labouring but as soon as it's for an electrician suddenly you have to be partly qualified in their eyes. Apologies for ranting, I'm just narked that I didn't make the decision to do it when I was 16 and now it's...

Update of the past apprenticeship quest.

Hi Pete, That's not dismissive bud a fair question, I haven't got the money to pay for training. My job atm covers my bills, food, car, I don't have enough each month to pay for additional training such as tradeskill4u for example.

Update of the past apprenticeship quest.

Evening all, I haven't posted in a fair while as I've been disheartened and annoyed. You may or may not remember last year I was asking if anyone was looking for a helper/mature apprentice. Seems just under a year I've consistently rang around, posted little flyers in my local merchants and...

Anyone have or regularly use a Mini lathe for steel or wood?

Yo guys, More than likely some of the older boys (naming no names) may have used a lathe once or twice, for machining little parts and bits and bobs on your home projects? Looking at broadening my horizons and add some feathers to a pretty bald cap. Cheers, HW

Best Sockets for value and longevity?

This is what I have, bought second hand filled mostly with Draper, Britool and Snap On.... One thing I have found doesn't really matter the amount the tool cost its who is wielding it and their knowledge/experience.
