    Hi all, is it sufficient to turn off the switch to the boiler when doing an IR test? I thought only double pole switches would isolate both phase and neutral and a boiler ran off a fused spur isn't double pole? Dimmer switches you disconnect and join phase and neutral, do you do this at the...

    array insulation resistance

    does anyone understand that dti guide. itsays to do test [ir] on array cables. how can this be acheived during daylight. also if not earthing array frame if using isolating transformer inverter with tncs do you probe earth on ac isolator switch for pos-earth neg-earth on test.comments welcome.

    insulation resistance

    carried out an IR test on a lighting circuit, the E to N was 299, E to L was 299 but N to L was 0.03, only had time to complete that test while doing other work, going back tomorrow. Any suggestions on what it could be would be apreciated. The 1.5m t&e looked in god condition in attic.

    Insulation Resistance readings!!!

    I have a fluke 1651 and some reading come out as <500 and others give readings in mega ohms. I take <500 as acceptable and anything above 2 mega ohms an acceptable level as well. Can someone explain the difference in readings to me please?

    if i take a spur off the ring main and fit an additional twin socket where do i carry out the insulation resistance tests for this new socket? is it back at the fuse board for the whole of the ring main circuit which my new socket is part of or is the test carried out at the new socket position...
