20mm PVC conduit crossover / hopover?

Don't do much conduit work...finishing my garage wire up and socket conduit needs to hopover the light circuit conduit. Can you buy these ready made or is it a case of bend your own?

It's a case of bend your own.
It's known as a bubble set, or saddle set or a few other names

They are..mainly as the lights are broken up (to allow me to have light while fixing another) and it results in that 20mm being on the full size..

Got the spring already, just a matter of time saving, why spend the time bending it when you can buy off the shelf...

I didn't mean you have to have them in seperate conduit lol, I meant that he must have had them already wired in seperate conduit so needed to go over the lighting conduit already installed, this may not be the case was just having a guess.

And I agree bend it yourself - a ready made 90 degree bend costs almost as much a 3m length of tube.

I've never seen a pre-made "cross-over", presumably because if you wanted to cross a 4" soil pipe, a 40mm waste pipe and a 20mm conduit you'd have to buy three different size fittings. There would need to be hundreds of variants to cater for all possibilities.

Bubble set in pvc takes no time, do the centre bend first as with steel.

And if some bright spark comes on in minute shouting I.P rating Zero, then use a small piece of flex conduit within the box to link the tubes..

On the Commercial sites I work on it's quite normal to see straight tube then flex conduit to jump a beam or other obstruction.

If it's in your own property, I'd strip it out again and join it all together, making it look neater. If not and you make your own bubble set, with you not doing much conduit, have a few bashes at it first and don't be worried about throwing an earlier attempt away, there's an interesting technique to warm the conduit up to make it bend easier, just make sure the wife doesn't walk up behind you while you're doing it, she may think you're doing something else........

IMO I would not heat it up or try bending it over your knee, it's all about hands.

LOL you do know that plastic conduit bending with spring is all about hands, not to say you can't with knees, I bend steel with the legs of the bender too. (tip for you)

Why wouldn't you heat it up or bend it with your knees? Having something to get purchase helps in general.

Because the next time your stuck on a job and short of a few manufactured versions it wouldn't half be handy to have learnt to produce your own sets accurately and quickly everytime, I can bend and form one around my knee faster then plugging and glueing manufactured bits together - plus a smooth pipe bubble set looks more professional than a load of plug ad play pieces IMHO, although it is your garage at the end of the day

I learnt this from an old sparky, just to take a bit out of an set or tweak a bit, how can I explain this without showing. If you don't believe then I can't help, but not telling fibs.
