Need to buy a new battery drill....something 18v with a couple of batteries and charger is all I need. Anyone know of any good deals out there at the moment?

Combi or drill driver?
I've just had a quick look around the net, there don't seem to be many good deals at the moment.
Maybe try somewhere like Rexel Senate?

Screwfix have a dewalt with 3x LI 1.3ah batts for £150.....seems like a good buy, anyone got one of those?
My current drill is an AEG and hasnt lasted very long TBH.

Wouldn't touch 1.3's, guttless. And / or won't last very long.

got Hitatchi drill driver and impact driver, had one or another since 2006 and can't fault them. They're all 3.0Ah and will destroy screws (on the shaft) if you allow them.

they get used and abused day in day out and are fine. Charger packed up recently but got a manky one off Ebay with two batteries for £21, the batteries were thrown in as unknowns...theyre fine! (£70 each new). Got mine from Power Tools, Hand Tools, Professional Tools from Makita, Dewalt, Milwaukee and more! | ITS.co.uk.

Tbh theres so much to choose from its bewildering

Personally I'd steer clear of DeWalt. I'd rather go for the Bosch with one 4ah battery. OK it's only got one battery but it'll probably last you all day, or they're doing spare 4ah batteries for about £70.

check the spec, 453 is a low end drill.

you cant trust the model number to tell you spec

for example mine is a bhp451 (80nm)

replaced by bhp458 (88nm) now replaced by dhp458

if you want makita toolstop or fastfix are the cheapest around

(if you burn a 458 out no problem, £78 for body only)

batteries are regularly on offer for 50 as well

( im not getting any more batteries till bl1850 come out, there advertised in Australia I believe (5ah batteries)

lol I can just imagine you will need to re-mortgage your house for the Price of a 5Amper Makita battery

but to the OP I Bought this Makita DHP458 a few weeks back for 165 Delivered it only comes with one 3amp/h Batt but it comes with a 22 minute from flat charger & is Makita's current top end Heavy Duty drill that produces 88nm of Torque & has twin job lights & also has a battery indicator on the drill ,plus you can pick up Genuine Makita 3a/h Star Batts for around 50/60 Quid plus you get a 3 year Warranty on the Drill

MAKITA BHP458 RFE 18V COMBI DRILL 1 X BL1830 BATTERY, CHARGER + CASE BRAND NEW | eBay

How much are they in Australia ?? ,I reckon they will be around 120 in the UK plus Makita Batts aren't exactly known for their reliability even the Star branded ones so you could end up with some expensive paper weights after the 12 month Warranty expires :D

?

no problems with mine are over a year old.

the 3rd gen 1830 (star) ones have no problems.

the only reason people have problems is the pcb in the battery used to draw power from only 2 cells in the battery and if one of thoes die the battery is written off.

the star batteries now don't have that problem
