Basically its bigger and better because it comes from the states, just like everything else! But you may need to reinforce the ceiling because it could be morbidly obese also...

I think that is you filed officers 'pet subject' I don't think thereis a requirement to find them on a test, as long as its safe.

Maybe not useful to the OP, but I happened across this page:
E26, E27 bulb socket DB-E26-1 lamp holder
which shows the difference between the E26 (USA) fitting and the E27 (European) one. So a european lamp may be a tight fit in a US holder. It doesn't say what the pitch of the E26 is either, so that may be slightly different.

Thanks HS, thats just explained a few problems I've had in the past with some industrial fittings we imported.

As i've stated, never seen or had or known of any problems encountered with lamp holders and lamps sourced from a variety of different countries...
