Hi all,

I'm a 48 year old, father of two in Berkshire, looking to change career.

Now my children are more independent i now longer need to be around for the school run etc.....

just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to find employment as an Electricians Mate.

I've nearly completed the first year of the City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma 2365 and will be enrolling for Level 3 which starts in September 2018.

I'm now looking for some experience in the industry, I know my age will go against me, but I'm reliable and willing to learn.

Many Thanks

Kevin

Hello Kevin,

I would write to every firm in your area explaining you are doing qualifications yourself and are looking to build a career in the industry, say you are keen to learn and are happy do anything in the trade and don't mind hard work, you may well find there are several Employers who are happy to give you a trial, act keen and interested and if you want it hard enough they will see you are genuine.

and sign up to indeed. daily emails of jobs sent to you.

Modt of the the jobs on indeed require appropriate cards that i don't have as I'm not employed....

Randstad and Hays are national, there are probably some local to you who would be worth trying. Put your CV on CV library and they can call you.
