Hi all, I am a 25 year old currently looking at changing careers from working on the railway to becoming an electrician, but with the one small problem of not know where to start. I have looked into paying for courses however with no experience in the field and the costs of these I'm not to sure if this is the right route for me. If anyone can give me some advice on where to start on my journey it would be greatly appreciated.

First off good luck. It's a brilliant profession I hope you get there.

Secondly it's a long process. There are quick ways of doing it, but don't do it that way.

I would personally advise you to try to get in with a spark as a labourer first and do evening or day release NVQ level 2.

While your doing your level 2 you will learn more about what is required.

Any of us on the forum could give you advice, but in 2 years that advice may be old and dated.

Take it one step at a time. Nvq level 2.

Welcome to the mad house .what line of work did you do on the railway .
