Hi guys, just looking for a little advice.

I have just had my kitchen done (plastered and all) and had a radial circuit set up for the cooker using 6mm cable into a cooker switch down to a connection unit. It's 32amp at the consumer unit.

I have just bought an integrated single oven to find it only requires a 13 amp fused plug. I also have a gas hob that needs wiring up off of it as there are no other power points nearby.

My question is...

1- Can I change the cooker connection unit to a double socket (fed by the 6mm from the cooker switch) and use the cooker and hob with appropriately fused plugs?

Or

2- Can I cut the plug off and hard wire the cooker into a cooker switch/socket and replace the above worktop cooker switch with a FCU?

Or

3- Take a small length of 6mm from the connection unit into a FCU and then use 2.5mm from the FCU into a double socket? And plug into that?

I will get a sparky in but I want to try and get my head around it beforehand!

Thanks
Jay

as above. ^^^^^^. change the CCU for a double socket. this can easily be changed back if you ever go for a higher rated hard wired appliance.

issue he may have here is that the existing 6mm cables are too short to fit a socket. maybe leave CCU as is, and joint in it to extend to a DSO.

Advice.... Don't cut plugs off any new appliances.... It could invalidate any warranty

No it don't. We've been there done that. Unless you wish to commission a new survey with all the largest manufacturers, to establish if your statement is correct. I did, at great expense to myself I might add, and only one said it possibly might.

Unfortunately, I can't remember who that was or where that thread is now. So its Russian :gun: (cutting plug off :))
