Hello I have a intermediate lighting circuit in a bedroom consisting 4 5ow down lights, the dimmer switch is at the entrance to the bedroom in a 2 gang box, the 2 gang intermediate is by the side of the bed and a 2 gang switch is on the other side of the bed. the other lighting circuit controls 2 down lights which are fine the problem is the dimmer has blown 3 times. The wiring is correct as the circuit works correctly but after a while the dimmer blows. The dimmer switch is 400w. Would the intermediate switch have any effect on the dimmer? can any one help please. Thanks

Assuming that the dimmer isn't overheating by being crammed into a box too small, probably just cheap dimmers tbh.

Yep, the most common causes of dimmer failure are overheating and overloading. Overloading might be caused be lack of derating with inductive lighting systems. It's also worth checking all the fittings for poor condition lamp holders and loose wiring terminations etc.
